After months of quarantining and with no end in sight, it can feel downright discouraging! Maybe you planned a dream adventure that didn’t pan out? Or, maybe you’ve been stuck in a rut of doing the same thing day in and day out?
No matter where you are in these unprecedented times, it is so important that we have something that we can look forward to! Of course, it’s good to live in the moment, but I find that whenever I have something fun on the horizon, my stress is lowered and I feel happy anticipating this event. It seems like during this COVID-19 Pandemic, many of us are missing out on this feeling of excitement.
Now more than ever, we need something to look forward to, and here are four different adventures that you can plan and train for without breaking quarantine!
- Mimic a Dream Adventure
Have you always dreamt about hiking the Grand Canyon? Well, obviously it’s not going to happen this year, but why not make it happen in your very own backyard?
If there’s something that you’ve always wanted to do, but you just haven’t had the time, make time now! For example, if the Grand Canyon is your goal, you can research a particular hike, the distance, difficulty, elevation, and so on. Once you learn about it, then you can find a place locally with similar specifications, train, and go for it!
- Sign Up for a Virtual Event
Due to this global pandemic, virtual events are popping up left and right! Always wanted to run a marathon? There’s a virtual event for that! Even though you may not get the whole feeling of running it in a crowd, you can connect with others who are participating alongside you virtually!
- Create Your Own Event
You can also create your own event by yourself or with friends (following social distancing guidelines, of course)! Maybe you can organize a fun-themed 5k for you and 2 of your best friends or a day of mountain biking with a prize for the person who finishes first? The possibilities are endless!
- Find Local Fun
Many people underestimate the outdoor fun around them. Do a little digging and see what your area has to offer in the great outdoors! Maybe you’ve always been wanting to go to this certain waterfall, but you never had the time to take the day because it’s a longer drive. Now is your time!
Whatever you do, it is so important to take time to plan, prepare, and have something to look forward to! Not only does it lower stress, but it always gives us a spark of excitement and a drive to keep striving for and meeting our goals! Many people feel like their goals, dreams, and aspirations have gone out the window the second the Coronavirus arrived, but that’s simply not the case! Get out there and find something fun and exciting to do!
